video format for fast playback - HAP codec - Shutter Encoder

To get reliable fast playback in Touch Designer, it seems best to use the HAP codec.
There's a free tool for Windows called Shutter Encoder that can batch process a bunch of videos into HAP (and many other codecs). Things to note - HAP files are quite a bit larger than your normal mp4 file.
